OSD BUSINESS MANAGER
supervises activities and staff of the
Business Services Unit, Supply/Warehouse, Food Service
Department, and Building and Grounds Maintenance Departments.
Business Services Unit
is responsible
for managing the school’s approximately $9,000,000.00 budget
(95% state, 5% federal) and overseeing the daily business
operations of the school. All financial transactions,
contractual agreements, grant records and reporting are
completed by the business staff. OSD Business Services is
located Long Hall, 3rd floor and provides the
services of the main office for visitor’s
registration/reception, switchboard services and mail center.
Applications,
records and determinations for school lunch program, E-Rate and
state/Federal grants are maintained by business services. The
Students’ Trust Accounts, School Activity Accounts and Student
Petty Cash are maintained by the Business Services Unit as
well.
Supply & Warehouse

Provides
supplies for school operations,

Coordinates
ordering of equipment/supplies from statewide contracts and
vendors,
-
Receives all
purchases,
-
Maintains an
operational capability and accountability of stocked warehouse
supplies,
-
Conducts/supervises inventories required by state/federal
agencies,
-
Controls the
accountability of consumable foods,
-
Coordinates
the disposal of state property,
-
Processes
transfers.
Food Services
-
Provides three meals per day for all students during the school
year.

Assures
compliance with school lunch program for breakfast and noon
meals
-
Provides
snacks, sack lunches, special dinners, banquets and other
functions.

Maintains
records, menus, recipe files, inspection certificates and
compliance documents for this area.

Free
and Reduced Lunch Eligibility
|
|
OSD is required each year
to have parents complete and submit a new form to
determine eligibility for free and reduced lunch. Each
family is required to fill-out a new form each year even
if the family does not qualify for this service. These
forms are given the highest confidentiality; only the
director of the food service department and the business
manager has access to this information. When OSD
publishes information regarding the free/reduced lunch
program, student names are kept completely confidential;
only the total numbers and percentages of eligible
students are used. |
Building Maintenance Department
is responsible
for the maintenance and repairs of all buildings on the main
campus plus the Outdoor Classroom on the 60 acres located across
highway 7 southeast of the campus. The department contains the
following classifications each having their own areas of
responsibility: 1 Construction/ Maintenance Operations Manager,
1 Administrative Technician, 3 Construction/Maintenance
Technicians, 1 Automotive/Engine Repairman, 1 Electrician, 1
Contract Plumber, 2 Physical Plant Operators, 3
Housekeeping/Custodial Workers and 3 Fire Safety/Security
Officers.
The department
is responsible for all forms of structural repairs and performs
minor remodels as needed. The school Motor Pool has a total of
22 vehicles used to transport students and staff for
educational/home going and staff functions. The technical trades
(Electrician & Plumber) are responsible for the repair of the
electrical systems, plumbing systems and heating and air
conditioning as required. Fire Safety/Security is responsible
for insuring that the students and staff are safe and secure
from intruders and that all buildings are monitored for fires
and assist in the evacuation of students and staff in case of an
emergency. Housekeeping/Custodial personnel insure that the
facilities are well maintained and clean at all times to insure
a healthy environment. The Power Plant operators insure that the
cooling and heating loop systems are maintained at all times.
The
Construction/Maintenance Operations Manager oversees the daily
operations of the department as well as coordinates new projects
and oversees the projects until they are complete. The
Administrative Technician process all applicable paperwork to
insure operational accountability at all time
Grounds Maintenance
-
The OSD
groundskeeper and the equipment operator maintain the 37.5 acre
campus and the operations of the horticulture
center/greenhouse. The Grounds keeping staff are responsible
for mowing, seeding, sodding and fertilizing, as well as leaf
clean-up and snow removal.
