The Student Support Services is responsible for admissions and enrollment for the Oklahoma School for the Deaf. Coordination of support services for students attending OSD is also a primary duty of the Student Support Services. It is our goal to provide support needed so that students are ready to be successful in the classroom as well as at home. Services include counseling, nursing, audiology, hearing aids, speech therapy, sign language instruction, interpreters, Spanish translation, social services, food closet, clothes closet, and much more. Many of these services are also available to students attending public schools. Please contact us for more information about services available to students statewide.
As the statewide resource on deafness, OSD makes outreach to the community a priority. We have American Sign Language classes that are offered every semester to parents and the community. We also strive to provide information about OSD at conferences, events, and trainings. OSD provides trainings on site for educational interpreters every summer. This is a unique opportunity for educational interpreters to be immersed in learning ASL and learning about Deaf culture and the Deaf community.
Another part of our statewide outreach efforts includes the Oklahoma Equipment Distribution Program. This program provides assistive devices to individuals of all ages with a hearing loss. This includes amplified phones, alerting devices, and hearing aids for senior citizens and children. If you have any questions, please contact us at (580) 622-4930.
