Posted Date: 01/06/2023

DRS is pleased to announce OSD New Superintendent:

I am pleased... tickled... thrilled to announce that the Oklahoma School for the Deaf has a new superintendent. I believe Dr. Heather Laine is just what the school needs. She brings 23 years of experience including 14 years in leadership roles ranging from assistant principal to director at two schools in Arizona and Louisiana.

When I interviewed Dr. Laine, I knew is she was our newest Bison. Her commitment to student education and success is apparent. Dr. Laine is a dedicated, caring and motivated teacher, administrator and school leader ready to do what is required in order to see our Deaf and Hard of Hearing students succeed. And I believe she will do it.

Dr. Laine earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development from Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C., and then pursued her Master’s degree in Deaf Education from California State University in Northridge. She also earned a doctorate with a focus on K-12 Teaching and Learning from Argosy University in Phoenix, Arizona.
