Marie Guard is an Early Development Specialist for the NE region of Oklahoma at OSD. She has worked in Deaf education for over 20 years in a variety of roles.
Marie started her career as a classroom teacher for Deaf and Hard of Hearing children in Fort Smith, AR. She taught at the Little Light House in Tulsa, OK for 2 years. She has served as a Parent Advisor for Project ECCO for over 20 years. Marie was the first Program Director for Happy Hands Education Center and instrumental in the inception of the school. Marie taught for Broken Arrow Public Schools for 10 years as a 3rd , 4th and 5th grade Deaf Education Teacher. She taught for Tulsa Public Schools for 7 years as a Preschool teacher in the Deaf Education program, and taught ASL and Deaf Education courses at the University of Tulsa as a Visiting Professor for 2 years.
Marie has been the District Itinerant Teacher for Deaf and Hard of hearing children for Jenks Public
Schools for the last 3 years.
Marie has her MA in Deaf Education Advanced Studies, Bilingual ASL/English from Gallaudet University, Washington, D.C. and a BS in Deaf Education from the University of Tulsa, Tulsa, OK.
