Student Life

Living and Learning at OSD

  • At OSD, we help students build the skills they need to live independently after graduation.

    Junior/Senior Curriculum

Our program builds on the student life curriculum and focuses on:

    • Teaching independent living skills

    • Encouraging personal responsibility

    • Providing job training and work experience

Students in the Honor Dorm gain real-life practice managing daily tasks while preparing for life beyond high school.

  • OSD offers occupational training for students interested in after-school employment. Through this program, similar to OTOD, students:

    • Earn minimum wage while working part-time

    • Learn valuable job skills and develop a strong work ethic

    • Prepare for future employment after graduation

Most positions are on campus, but when available, students can also work off campus in the community, gaining experience working alongside their hearing peers with the support of needed accommodations.

  • All our dorms provide a welcoming and supportive living environment, including:

    • Community kitchens

    • Shared living rooms with flat-screen TVs

    • Furnished bedrooms with beds and dressers

Senior Independent Living Dorms (High School)

Designed for high school juniors and seniors, these dorms include:

    • Personal televisions

    • Microwaves

    • Personal refrigerators

This environment helps students transition smoothly into independent adulthood while still receiving guidance and support.
